1985 年，還是新人的惠妮休斯頓在灌錄完" Greatest love of all "這首歌之後，作曲者 Michael Masser 相當滿意惠妮的詮釋，欣喜之餘，他拿出一首舊作" Saving all my love for you "給惠妮，建議她灌唱這首歌，「這會讓許多女人痛哭，因為這是一首關於女人的歌」他這麼告訴惠妮。事實上，歌詞內容描述一個愛上已婚男子的女子的故事，明知自己是第三者，明知可能沒有結果，卻仍然深情的躲在暗處，把所有的愛都留給所愛的人。
這一次，倒是惠妮的母親有意見了，她不希望剛出道的惠妮太早演唱這類題材的歌，不過惠妮最後還是同意在專輯中演唱這首歌，唱片公司老闆 Clive Davis 也並未表示意見，只跟 Michael Masser 建議說，這首歌別製作得太黑人風格，以吸引更多白人歌迷。曾為多位大牌歌手製作暢銷單曲的 Michael Masser 當然明白這個道理，並邀請著名的薩克斯風手 Tom Scott 前來助陣。Tom Scott 後來表示，在聽過惠妮美妙的歌喉之後，他在薩克斯風間奏部分刻意不顯花俏，以凸顯惠妮的實力唱腔。
" Saving all my love for you "這首歌早在 1978 就被一對男女組合 Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. 所灌唱，但惠妮的美聲一出，卻立即感動了全世界的樂迷，包括英、美兩地和許多國家都是排行冠軍。1986 年的葛萊美獎典禮上，還是新人的惠妮休斯頓以這首歌奪得最佳流行女歌手大獎，可說鋒芒萬丈，人人稱羨。
可惜，當年的美聲天后和 Bobby Brown 結婚後，見報的消息若非家暴，就是吸毒被捕。去年，惠妮休斯頓終於推出全新錄音室專輯《 I look to you 》，勒戒毒癮後的惠妮歌聲依然動人，但嗓音不復當年高亢亮麗，令人惋惜。2010 年二月的新聞，她在澳洲開演唱會，唱到人人期待的經典" I will always love you "，高音完全飆不上去，歌迷錯愕之餘罵聲連連。唉！惠妮明知自己狀況，何苦演唱這首名曲，落得晚節不保的淒涼下場。YouTube 裡頭可以看到當時景況，但是………奉勸各位別去點閱觀看，放過惠妮吧！
