莎士比亞的戲劇真是歷久彌新，西方影壇對莎劇的熱潮始終不減。「鐵達尼號」的男主角李奧納狄卡皮歐就曾拍過現代版的「羅密歐與茱麗葉」。
「羅密歐與茱麗葉」搬上銀幕並不是第一次，早在約三十年前好萊塢就曾拍攝成電影，而且當時在世界各地都相當轟動，台灣當時的中文片名為「殉情記」。"A time for us"這首歌就是「殉情記」的主題曲，但是這首歌並未出現在電影中。原因是原來的配樂實在太動聽，後來有人將其主題音樂填上歌詞，交由當時最紅的男歌星安迪威廉斯演唱，而成了一首暢銷曲。
